French Cinema: C’est Magnifique!
“When love comes in, and takes you for a spin, ooh la la la, c’est magnifique . . .” Cole Porter
Just fell in love with two wonderful, charming, intelligent and poignant french films about love (both available on DVD). Neither are brand new, having been released in 2007 (only new to me . . . and perhaps to you if you haven’t yet seen them) but oh so very, very worth seeing. Avenue Montaigne, my new favorite film of the year, about enduring love, romance, change and perhaps karma —
Jessica falls in love—
The Hotel Plaza Athenee on the Avenue Montaigne —
And Mon Milleur Ami (My Best Friend) about friendship and what it means to care about other people —
Our hero is a selfish guy for whom people are just a way to make a deal—
He finally makes a true friend —
“But then, one day, your loved one drifts away, ooh la la la, it is so tragique . . .”
I won’t tell you what happens at the end —
